How much deposit is required when making a booking?
The first nights fee is required as a deposit. The rest if the balance is required 8 weeks prior to your arrival date.
What will I be charged if I need to cancel my holiday?
If a booking is cancelled less than 28 days before arrival then a charge equal to 50% of the stay will be made.
If a booking is cancelled less than 14 days before arrival then a charge equal to 75% of the stay will be made.
In the event of a no show or booking reduction (after arrival date) the full cost of the booking is charged.
What types of payment to you accept?
Payments by cash, cheque, bacs, and the following cards:
Visa Debit / Delta, Maestro / Switch – no charge.
Visa Credit, Mastercard – a charge of 2.5%.
Do you accept dogs?
Yes we offer dog friendly accommodation at Howgills Barn and Howgills Apartment 7/8. An additional fee of £16 per dog is required.
What facilities does your accommodation offer?
Are there many things to do in the local area?
There is a wealth of things to see and do both in Sedbergh and the surrounding area. (please click here). If you don’t fancy going far we can also arrange activities up at the Barn for you too! (please click here)
Are you child friendly?
We pride ourselves on providing excellent accommodation for families and any cots or high chairs that you may require are provided free of charge. Please just let us know at the time of booking. We also provide a guide of local things to see and do which will hopefully help to keep the whole family entertained whilst on your holiday with us! Please click here.
How many guests can your accommodation sleep?
Our Barn sleeps up to 35 guests. During the mid- week (Monday to Thursday) at our Barn, single beds and rooms are also available to book which is ideal for those that enjoy socializing with others after a hard days walking or cycling.
Each of our five Apartments sleep different number of guests and range from larger apartments sleeping up to 12 guests to cozier twin room apartments. All five apartments can also be booked out for your sole use too, sleeping up to 35 guests too.
Do you have a music system at the Barn?
Yes we have a stereo at the Barn which plays CDs and also has an ‘aux’ port. Bring your own aux cable to connect your phone or mp3 player to the sound system and speakers that are set up in the main lounge.
When can I check in?
Check in time is after 4pm and check out is 10am. An extended check in or check out is available at £100.
How do I check in?
At the Barn, you will be met by a Member of our Team who will show you around, explain the fire alarm system/procedure and how to operate the kitchen equipment.
The Apartments are self-check in and you will be sent an access code to the Apartment Building and your own Apartment. This allows you the flexibility of checking in at whatever time you like!

When will I be sent my travel details?
Travel details are sent after the final balance of your booking has been settled.
Do you take Stag and Hen parties?
The Barn is a perfect party place and it’s private location provides the ultimate location for fun, fun, fun!
